Fishing

This area offers to the west of Four Bay Lake exclusive, remote access to several different lakes that can be accessed through a combination of short boat trips and portage trails, offering tremendous fishing opportunities for walleyes and northern that can match any fly - in lake in Northwestern Ontario. Many of these lakes are fished only a few days each year, guaranteeing an authentic fishery which will formulate a true memorable day trip. These lakes are equipped with small boats, outboard motors and a supply of mixed gasoline is provided here at the main camp ready to take into the portage lakes.

Located here at the camp is a fish cleaning station equipped with running water and a processing table for the daily catch.

Bait

Minnows are available on site for sale. We give a healthy dozen approximately sixteen to eighteen for each dozen at a cost of $3.50 US per dozen, plus tax.

Fishing Licenses

Sturgeon River Outfitters has obtained Restricted License Issuing Status effective for the commencement of the 2008 operating season. There are two types of fishing licenses available at the office:

  • Non Resident Eight Day Conservation Fishing License: $28.84, Cdn. Funds.
  • Non Resident Annual Conservation Fishing License: $48.26, Cdn. Funds.

Please note: Sturgeon River Outfitters, accepts CONSERVATION FISHING LICENSES ONLY. NO STANDARD FISHING LICENSES ARE ALLOWED.

 Concerning the Conservation Fishing License Reimbursement Program, there are three requirements to qualify:

  • Obtaining the Conservation Fishing License directly from Sturgeon River   Outfitters. Fishing Licenses purchased prior to arrival from another location will require verification upon arrival and are not elegible for reimbursement.
  • The Reservation is for the full seven day period at the package plan price.
  • It will be necessary for you as the guest to contribute pictures from your vacation here at Sturgeon River Outfitters, whether the pictures are of fishing, groups sessions or nature scenes to the electronic photo gallery. In summary, obtain those pictures and forward memories. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.

BOAT OPERATOR REGULATIONS

The Pleasure Craft Operator Card or the Boating Safety Course is not required for non-residents, while operating watercraft for the duration of the vacation. Sturgeon River Outfitters provides the Rental - Boat Safety Checklist to each boat operator upon check in. This checklist requires the boat operator's signature to be valid and must be carried by the boat operator, while operating the boat.

Please remember to bring your own PFD/USCG approved lifejacket, as it is a requirement to have a PFD/lifejacket by law and your safety is important to us.

 Attention Hunters: Please bring your Home State Hunting Licenses, as this documentation is required to process and issue an Ontario Hunting License.
