A short distance from where Sturgeon Lake empties into the beautiful Sturgeon River, we are the only man-made structure on this 20 mile section of waterways, which also include the following lakes: Four Bay, Three Bay, and Dizzy. Our guests also have access to portage lakes such as Davies and F Lake. Sturgeon River Outfitters has the feel of a fly-in resort without the fly-in rate.

About Us

We are a family run, semi-remote recreational fishing and hunting camp consisting of four self-contained cabins situated on the Sturgeon River. We aim to provide a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where you can unwind in rustic comfort and enjoy the beauty of everything that northwestern Ontario and nature provide. It is important to us to focus not only on quantity, but quality fishing by maintaining and operating Sturgeon River Outfitters within conservation limits.

What We Offer

Fishing

Fish our conservation waters for walleye, northern, and lake trout with exclusive access to over 20 miles of the Sturgeon River and several lakes including Four Bay, Three Bay, Dizzy, Davies, and F Lake. Take a trip down river with a short 1/4 mile portage of White Falls. From there fish the lower river or Dizzy Lake or continue on to Davies Lake with a scenic 1/2 mile portage. For the most adventurous angler, take our remote portage into F Lake. At the end of each portage, you will find your boat and motor waiting.

Hunting

Bear hunts are operated on a 250 sq. km Bear Management Area (BMA) with a limited number of tags. Hunting pressure is extremely low while the bear population continues to grow. All baits are started over two months in advance to your hunt ensuring 100% bait activity with multiple bears hitting each bait. With multiple bait sites, we can accommodate all types of hunts: bow, gun, or muzzleloader.

Accommodations

Our cabins are clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished and can accommodate 8 people in Hilltop and 6 people in our other three cabins. Each cabin features: 24 hour electricity; electric heat; full bathroom, with hot and cold pressurized water; complete kitchen with gas stove and electric refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and coffee pot; cooking utensils and dishes; bed linens, blankets, and pillows; and access to an ice machine.

Our boats are 14 ft. and 16 ft. aluminum fishing boats with swivel seats and 15 hp Yamaha or 9.9 hp Yamaha & Johnson outboard motors. The smaller portage lakes are equipped with 8 hp Evinrudes. Nets are provided in each boat located at the main dock. No outside boats are allowed in camp.
